Helping out a member of my flist

He is part of a Team on Etsy that sell all kind of metal stuff. (He sells chainmail.
Well right now the team leader is running a contest. Between now and Nov 5th. We have to get our store name and the URL of the team website plastered all over the intarwebs as much as possible, where google can find them. The winner is the one with the most google results at the end of the contest. The prize? Besides a list of valuable metals and metal working tools. There's a $50 gift certificate to a Jewelry Supply Company.

Lovely Sony Vaio.

I need to buy a new laptop. This one has served it's purpose but I am getting to the point where I need a new one.

I was thinking of another ThinkPad since I love this one but stumbled across the computer above.

I will probably use the monies that the Federal Goobermint is so nicely *cough*HA*cough* giving me as a majority of the cost. I am looking to spend about a grand.

Help me oh flist please. Recommend a laptop to me.

Important things-good processor speed, at least 1MB of RAM, preferably 2. At least 160GB hard drive. Would be nice to be blue tooth capable. I don't do gaming on this but I do like to obtain TV shows to store and watch. Would need a DVD/RW drive.

I am not fond of Dell, Gateway and have never used a MAC-nothing against them but I am a PC girl all the way. Lenovo, Toshiba, Sony and HP are all brands I am familiar with and would trust. I know nothing about off brands like Acer so any personal experience is desired.

I got up early both Tuesday and Wednesday mornings to catch the Red Sox opening games. (and yes I consider 3 am early) Consequently I have been going to be around 9 and sleeping straight through. I am up past my bedtime...

tag? what tag?

Although I do admit I guessed at about 5 of them. I must be a decent guesser then....

and this at the top of the results page made me LOL.

Congratulations, you're IQ is HIGHER than the average person taking this quiz!

edited because in and on do not mean the same thing. Hey, at least it wasn't for a tag!

Take this test!

No bones about it, you're an intelligent, playful Pug. Witty and charming, you're a lot of dog wrapped in a small package. People just love you — a wonderful approachability and sense of humor put you at the top of everyone's list. And because you're smart and quick-witted, you attract a crowd wherever you go. (Have you ever considered running for office or starting a company? You've got the charisma for either.) But that doesn't mean you can't be a little naughty or mischievous when opportunity knocks — you've definitely got a nose for fun! A happy, optimistic breed, you're admired and respected by all. Woof!

On the brink

of a second World Series in 4 years, I find myself a bit nostalgic.

I know I don't post much about my passion for the Red Sox here. I have redsox for that.

But I was looking back and came across these links.

This one was from October of 2003. we had just lost game seven of the ALCS to the Yankees. That post summed up my life as a Red Sox fan up to that point. Bittersweet yet still full of hope.

Then a year later, there is this. For the first time in a long time, I actually felt hope. Hope that this was THE YEAR. The year we could tell Dan Shanessy that he was full of shit and to stop inventing that farking curse. The year we could finally say we were WS champs. The year thousands or even millions of fans could go to a loved ones grave and rejoice with their loved one that the Sox finally won. And you all know that it was the year.

This year wasn't a lot different. We had a 14 1/2 game at one point that dwindled to a 2 game lead. We ended up winning the divison title but I still couldn't rest easy. I knew we could handle the Angels since we have had their number for a few years now. Cleveland scared the shit out of me and I was almost proven right. Luckily some of that 2004 ALCS mojo was still around.

The team still isn't making it easy. The first game was great, once we had that 7 run 7th inning. The second game was a nail biter right down to the last out but once again we prevailed. Last night was also a nail biter, despite that 6 run lead we had for a few innings. For as a Red Sox fan knows, anything can happen and things can go tits up in a matter of a few swings.

Tonight is no sure thing, despite the three game lead. No three game lead is safe, as we have proven twice already. All it will take is a few lucky bounces their way and BLAM. But you know what? I have faith.

I believe.

See y'all on the flip side.

So this morning didn't start very well

I decided to do a proper breakfast of bacon, pancakes, OJ and milk.

Got the oven preheated, pan covered with aluminum foil and bacon spread out for cooking.

While the bacon was cooking, mixed up the pancake batter and started cooking. Made a pitcher of Pineapple Orange juice.

Finished up with the pancakes and by that time, the bacon was ready.

I took it out of the oven and put in on paper towels to drain. Almost immediately. the smoke detector started blatting obnoxiously loud. I tried hitting the reset button (after climbing cautiously onto a chair but that didn't work. So I flung open the patio door and ran to the stove to turn on the hood fan. Luckily that worked. note to self, use the fan whenever cooking anything, just in case.

So as the bacon was draining and my heart rate was settling down, I finished cleaning stuff up. (I had previously buttered and brown sugared the pancakes). I was putting the lid on the container I keep the brown sugar in when BAM!! The container skidded across the breakfast bar and dropped to the floor, spilling brown sugar all over the floor.

Brown sugar is hard to clean up from the carpet. I swept up what I could, ate breakfast and then attacked it with a bucket of water, sponges and paper towels. I have to buy a vacumm cleaner anyway, I might as well see if I can get one that steam cleans as well. I am sure this is not going to be the last time I do something stupid.

Remind me the next time I want to do something like this to not do it. It would be easier in the long run to visit IHOP.

So here I sit

on Wednesday night at 9:07.

My team is one game away from winning it allCollapse )

carpedi7 I locked this post til after the game but I texted you first with the prediction. Boy am I going to look stupid if they lost tonight.
